Chaloner has partnered with SmithSolve to identify a strong biopharma Account Director to handle strategy and execution of communication programs for multiple clients.

The Account Director will drive the strategic development and implementation of client programs using strong content development and project management skills. The Account Director will report to a Vice President.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree as well as minimum of seven to ten years of healthcare experience in an agency or corporate setting
  • A passion for impacting the lives of patients each and every day
  • Ability to lead and provide strategic counsel to senior clients
  • Strong business acumen, experience managing budgets, forecasting and reporting to ensure accounts remain profitable
  • Management experience and leadership skills that drive high performance
  • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture, drive organic growth among current clients and contribute to new business

Responsibilities

Client Service

  • Serve as day-to-day contact for clients, provide strategic counsel
  • Ensure client satisfaction and delivery of highest level of client service
  • Proactively identify and manage clients’ business and communication challenges and demonstrates a thorough understanding of clients’ businesses and the impact of industry trends and competition
  • Create enduring client partnerships including multiple contacts across the organization
  • Lead yearly planning process to present new ideas and recommendations

Account Management

  • Guide program development, including creative, forward-thinking, patient- focused approaches
  • Provide strategic direction to account team to ensure movement and alignment of all program activities
  • Anticipate and/or lead the resolution of account problems and issues
  • Act with high degree of independence, demonstrating responsibility for account and client relationships
  • Manage and lead consultants, vendors or partners that contribute to program execution
  • Develop scopes of work including KPIs, budgets and timelines
  • Oversee monthly invoicing and activity reporting for each client
  • Lead staff utilization process to allocate team time and resources
  • Manage monthly and yearly resource planning
  • Identify opportunities to maximize profitability and growth of agency
  • Ensure compliance with time entry and expense reporting

Communication Skills

  • Draft, review and edit a wide range of editorial content including media materials, clinical data announcements, disease education, patient-directed resources, regulatory news, corporate branding, employee communications, web copy and social media content
  • Accountable for final review of all communications and client materials developed by account team
  • Present ideas and recommendations effectively and with confidence
  • Demonstrate ability to translate complex scientific information
  • Oversee pitch/story development and media relations team
  • Apply knowledge of social media channels, including regulatory issues to implement program activities

Leadership

  • Manage and lead staff at various levels and experience providing regular direction and support and ongoing guidance on professional development
  • Conduct or contribute to yearly performance appraisals for staff
  • Identify areas of expertise in which to train and mentor staff through relevant training opportunities, “lunch and learns” and related articles and information
  • Help to hire, manage and supervise talent, both internally and externally
  • Support the company’s vision and values, representing the company well in both internal and external interactions
  • Accept and provide constructive criticism in order to deliver the highest possible work product
  • Continually seek new ways to learn, improve and contribute
