Chaloner is partnering with Center for Reproductive Rights on their search for a Digital Director to be based in their New York City office.

About the Position: The Digital Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the digital department and oversee the digital and social media strategy for the organization. The Digital Director will manage a team of social media experts, digital strategists and online fundraising marketers for the organization’s global operations. In this refreshed role, the Digital Director will report to Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) and serve as the primary liaison between the department and the organization.

The Digital Director will have a big picture, campaign-focused strategy, a deep understanding of the audience journey and audience expansion through use of social, and must be skilled at rapid response. The digital department will ensure all communications to audiences are in the form of high quality, sharable content meant to drive attention to the U.S. and global work of the organization. The Digital Director will design campaigns to be measured with a goal of deepening and diversifying audience engagement, increase the Center’s visibility, and drive audience growth with an eye to drive fundraising efforts.

This position will be based in New York City.

Responsibilities

The Digital Director’s primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the digital department. Build and manage a high functioning, agile team with depth in social and digital campaign expertise.
  • Serve as the primary leader for the social and online strategy of the organization.
  • Conceive, develop and execute high-results campaigns that raises the Center’s profile, drives awareness and builds support for the organizations’ domestic and global work.
  • Develop holistic and integrated digital marketing and communications plans to drive the Center’s mission, vision and strategy with communications management team.
  • Oversee direct response fundraising strategy and content.
  • Oversee production of high quality content across all digital platforms and targeted distribution to drive awareness back to the organization.
  • Lead all rapid response strategy and communication online.
  • Analyze and report campaign statistics, making recommendations for better use of channels and/or creating new social channels with a meaningful strategy to deepen engagement and drive audience growth.
  • Play a crucial strategic role to continually survey the digital landscape for upcoming opportunities and challenges—and work with colleagues within the department and program leads for coordinating strategies for responding to them, often on very tight timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant digital and social media experience with direct team management.
  • Successful track record of developing and leading digital strategies, online fundraising programs, and campaigns in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Deep experience in digital/social campaign for a global audience.
  • Experience effectively managing rapid response online.
  • Knowledge of all online channels and using innovation to improve and/or implement new channels and tools to increase awareness.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills, and a calm, diplomatic demeanor—even in times of intense pressure.
  • Experience managing a three+ person team required.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and messaging skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency with project management tools. experience with Asana a plus.
  • Extremely sharp organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of projects, tasks, and files effectively simultaneously.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of strong personalities. sense of humor.
  • Ability to travel within and outside the U.S. as needed.
  • Deep dedication to the Center’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree communications, journalism or related field highly preferred.
