Chaloner has partnered with Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. on their search for a Director, Enterprise Communications to be based out of their Alpharetta, GA headquarters.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Director, Enterprise Communications will be responsible for the development, execution and management of internal communication strategies that support SWM business objectives by significantly enhancing employee engagement, driving company culture and increasing employee understanding of the company’s Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles and business strategy. This role is also responsible for corporate external communications, corporate advertising and brand management (primarily through the company website and social media channels).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of SWM business objectives/priorities through the development and delivery of best in class internal communication practices
  • Work with leaders throughout the company to design, develop and implement effective communications and engagement programs and activities globally
  • Shape and draft messages and content for CEO and other Executive team members and SWM-wide communications
  • Manage and deliver company-wide communications through relevant internal communications channels, administering and maintaining these channels and any audience distribution.
  • Coordinate and oversee content of SWM intranet and company website, working with Executive management and key internal stakeholders and vendors; including managing SEO efforts to ensure optimal site engagement and performance
  • Successfully project manage internal communications activities with adherence to project deadlines
  • Serve as the portal editor to write, manage translations and publish company news, highlights and information
  • Plan, develop and maintain communication plan and calendar
  • Improve message coordination, clarity, consistency and context including coordination of translations for global communication
  • Facilitate and support local leaders to drive effective local, in-market internal communications, as well as providing corporate news and information for local on-site screen displays
  • Liaise with design and production agencies (print and web) as needed, including translation and validation with designated resources
  • Develop and implement appropriate metrics to evaluate the success and implementation of internal communications activities including measures of employee engagement
  • Manage the company’s brand messaging, logos and standards for use in print, trade shows and other media.
  • Manage the company’s external corporate messaging, such as the public website and advertising.
  • Provide communications support (writing, copy editing, and relationship building with publications, etc.) to Product Managers to promote SWM external image, ensure brand standards and market presence.
  • Lead the global employee engagement survey process and support HR leaders in implementing at their respective locations
  • Manage the global online recognition program
  • Lead the planning and execution of global leadership meetings
  • Support Investor Relations and Corporate Development activities as needed
  • Serve as a resource to evaluate external communications to ensure consistency with brand standards and messaging.
  • Supervise communications team members
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or related field is required; advanced degree a plus and 7-10 years progressive experience in developing and executing communications programs.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent business acumen and broad experience/understanding of all facets of marketing.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Skill in writing for a variety of audiences and channels.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into language easily understood by non-specialists.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledgeable in graphic design; conceptual.
