Chaloner has partnered with a Detroit based company specializing in online buying and selling of premium and collectible consumer goods on their search for a Director Of Affiliate Marketing & Online Advertising.

This position will form a key component of their growth story. They have built a live marketplace that is unique and has attracted a passionate user base. As they continue to grow their acquisition marketing, they are looking to hire a professional that can lead their affiliate marketing and online advertising activities. They are looking for someone that knows how to develop a high performing affiliate & advertising program and team. You will be able to work effectively in a fast paced organization. You will have experience of working with App and Web products concurrently and know how to develop and optimize a multi-channel strategy.


  • Managing the campaign process end-to-end including: partner research and recruitment, negotiating placement opportunities, campaign objective development, content development, campaign execution, analytics, and reporting.
  • Providing reporting based on KPI’s and success metrics
  • Recruiting high quality new partners to their program, you should already have proven systems and methods for affiliate and online advertising recruitment success
  • Building strong relationships with important publishers and pursue strategic initiatives to expand coverage with these partners
  • Negotiating and managing partner contracts
  • Implementing initiatives that enhance affiliate and advertising productivity, create new growth opportunities and increase ROI
  • Generating more profitable production out of existing affiliates
  • Ensuring our client hit monthly and yearly acquisition targets while keeping within CPA and ROI goals
  • Leading all of the remarketing and app install campaigns
  • Monitoring affiliate practices ensuring compliance and integrity of brand/reputation
  • Maintaining relationships with affiliates and other partners as well as motivating partners to improve campaign performance; maintaining relationships with network providers (must have experience managing partner accounts with third-party affiliate networks). You will be managing internal and third-party platform affiliate programs
  • Developing new marketing creatives with internal and external resources
  • Helping develop new campaign ideas, incentives, and bonus offers to grow the affiliate channel
  • Designing incentives, bonuses, and strategies to grow the affiliate program
  • Developing a calendar of initiatives and roll-out plans
  • Communicating results to the leadership team and other key stakeholders
  • Building out a team in due course that will be capable of serving the needs of the organization as they continue to scale

About You

  • 6 years + experience working in affiliate and online marketing roles within an ecommerce context
  • Possess experience of affiliate marketing in the context of web business (and app platform would be a distinct advantage)
  • You must have at least 3 years as the departmental head responsible for affiliate marketing in a successful organization
  • Possess a solid understanding of the online advertising ecosystem: various players (tools, networks, publishers, advertisers, remarketing techniques, app install opportunities), tracking technology, and channels
  • Possess a strong strategic mindset and be capable of turning first class strategy into first class implementation
  • You must be an effective negotiator
  • You must be an effective influencer of partners and internal resources
  • While the organization is established, there is still a strong entrepreneurial/start-up mentality and operation style. You need to balance consistency and process with adaptability and flexibility to the needs of the business and customer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You love to instruct/teach/train team members
  • Strong organizational skill and can delegate successfully
  • Effective at collaborating with different teams to deliver solutions
  • Show clear ownership and accountability for projects from start to finish
  • Extensive experience interviewing candidates with a keen eye for talent and culture fit
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
