Chaloner has partnered with a Detroit based company specializing in online buying and selling of premium and collectible consumer goods on their search for a Vice President of Content.

What You'll Do/Need


  • Manage the strategy and creation of content that is flexible, agile, innovative, on-brand and, most of all, effective at telling the company’s story to the market, including working closely with the CEO and the VP of Marketing
  • Build and own the company editorial calendar – a content roadmap and strategy to position our client as a thought and style leader while driving customer acquisition and conversion across all distribution channels (blogs, broadcast media, video, social and influencers)
  • Work directly with the CEO to develop the company TV product, evolving its content and growing its audience
  • Perform the role of editor in chief
  • Work closely with the Public Relations, Retention and Acquisition Marketing teams to develop new initiatives and campaigns leveraging and amplifying content for maximum effect
  • Work across the sneaker, handbag and luxury watch verticals to develop and manage output content aligned for those audiences, developing our client’s credibility and engagement in turn
  • Identify and leverage consumer insights – translating them into ideas and execution that will move the dial
  • Own the company voice in all original content development
  • Greatly increase our client’s following across all social media channels
  • Create a new internal “Content Agency” that will proactively publish and place information with media outlets, including generating revenue from their content
  • Develop and execute plans to inspire our customers and fans to generate content and use the content and narratives to achieve business goals
  • Coach, retain and grow top talent within the Content Marketing team (writers, social specialists, production team, etc.)
  • Develop and track content marketing key performance indicators, implement testing methodologies to measure and optimize content performance, and measure the performance of content on a monthly and quarterly basis


  • Eight years of relevant professional experience with strong, demonstrated leadership skills and a genuine interest in industry trends driving content marketing, awareness-building and demand generation
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Understanding of all aspects of content marketing, including social media, influence marketing and communications
  • Experience leading a team with a proven ability to communicate, delegate, build a team and develop direct reports
  • Exceptional messaging and writing skills and the ability to leverage multiple channels to land meaningful narratives
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy in all communications deliverables
  • Ability to balance need for creativity with a data-driven approach to measuring impact and success
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Track record of scaling a content marketing function
  • Extensive cross-group collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels with poise and maturity
  • Proven results working with creative and production teams and agencies
  • Ability to balance consistency and process with adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of customers and the business (While the organization is established, there is still a strong entrepreneurial/start-up mentality and operation style.)
