Emily Janssen - Director of Community Experience, The Communications Network
Chaloner is pleased to announce that Emily Janssen has joined The Communications Network as their Director of Community Experience. In this role, Emily will lead community building and member experience across the organizations' engagement programs, including Circles, LOCALs, and the annual conference, while designing systems and rituals that help members build relationships, grow as leaders, and stay connected over time.
Emily brings over two decades of experience in community engagement and program development. Prior to joining The Communications Network, she served as Director of Learning & Engagement at StoryCorps, where she directed strategy and operations to scale the organization's reach through community education and training programs that reached 2,500+ learners annually. She designed and launched the One Small Step Libraries initiative, expanded StoryCorps' e-learning hub to 8,000+ users, and secured over $2M in grants and fee-for-service revenue in her tenure. Earlier in her career at StoryCorps, Emily built out multi-year partnerships with healthcare systems, school districts, and libraries, and managed the organization's national Mobile Tour across 15 states.
Emily is also the Founder and Principal of Cultivating Story, where she guides organizations in strategic planning, program design, and best practices for community storytelling and oral history initiatives.
