Chaloner is pleased to announce that Josh Steinberg has joined Repair the World as the Managing Director, Los Angeles. Josh joined Repair the World in August 2026.
As the Managing Director, Josh will be responsible for the strategic direction, programmatic excellence, resource development, and sustainable growth of Repair’s presence throughout Los Angeles. Josh will be the champion for Repair’s mission locally and will expand the reach by cultivating strong relationships and engaging diverse Jewish audiences in impactful service.
Josh is a Los Angeles-based Jewish nonprofit leader who has spent his career gaining experiences and skills that made him the perfect candidate for the Managing Director role. Across Tzedek America, Swipe Out Hunger, and Zioness, he has run programs, built fundraising infrastructure from scratch, hired and managed teams, set organizational strategy, written grants, stewarded institutional funders, and designed the systems that make organizations function.
Josh got his start as a governmental affairs associate with the Illinois Department of Public Health before moving to Los Angeles to join Tzedek America as program director. At Tzedek America, Josh managed numerous programming projects, developed lesson plans focused on education and activism. He then spent four years with Swipe Out Hunger in Los Angeles, holding multiple roles including development and operations manager, director of operations and chief operating officer. Most recently, Josh led Zioness as the chief operating officer, overseeing a team of program, operations and advocacy professionals and running the growing advocacy organization.
Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world igniting a lifelong commitment to service. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. Repair is building a national Jewish service movement. We mobilize young adults to serve in their communities, catalyze service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspire people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference. By 2030, Repair will catalyze one million acts of service toward repairing the world.
